Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (1873–1897) Born in Lisieux, France, Saint Thérèse entered the Carmel at the age of fifteen. Though her life was brief, she illuminated the Church with her “Little Way” — responding to God through simple acts of love, humble trust, and complete surrender in the ordinary moments of daily life. She likened herself to a “little white flower,” reminding us that even the smallest soul, when rooted in God’s love, can fill the world with fragrance. In 1925, she was canonized a saint, and in 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II proclaimed her a Doctor of the Church.
